It's Opening Day and Military Appreciation Day.

Active-duty military, veterans, retirees, and their dependents receive

FREE ADMISSION as a thank-you for their service.

Join us as we kick of the 120th El Paso County Fair,

celebrating our SpudTacular Journey with a full day of entertainment, tradition, and community appreciation. The day is packed with exciting events, including auto races in the grandstands, hands-on homesteading classes, live music, magic, and a full schedule of 4-H livestock shows. The night ends with a spectacular fireworks display, making for an unforgettable start to the Fair.

Veteran Service Claims Clinic

Swink Hall will host our VIP Reception, welcoming sponsors and special guests to celebrate the start of the Fair. Then, from 2 PM to 6 PM, the EPC Veteran Service Claims Clinic will be available to assist veterans and their families with claims and benefits.

Homesteading Classes & Demonstrations

Step back in time with Eastern Colorado Prairie Homestead Skills in Whittemore. Throughout the day, hands-on classes will provide a glimpse into daily life in the early 1900s and 1910s. From traditional skills to heritage crafts, this experience brings history to life in an interactive way.

Golden Age of Magic

Experience the wonder of classic magic in Swink Hall as we bring back the Golden Age of Magic. With illusions and tricks inspired by legendary magicians, this show will transport you to a time when magic captivated audiences across the world.

Bands at the Fair

Live Music at the Farmers State Bank Pavilion

Enjoy a full day of live music at the Farmers State Bank Pavilion. At 3 PM the Swing Master Jazz Band will bring a smooth and nostalgic sound to the Fair. Then the Jason Lee Band will close out the night starting at 8pm with an electrifying performance.

Grandstand Event

Auto Races & Opening Day Fireworks – Ticketed Event

Feel the adrenaline as drivers take to the track for an action-packed night of auto racing in the grandstands. Hot laps begin at 4 PM, with racing kicking off at 6 PM. After the final checkered flag, stick around for the Opening Day Fireworks Display around 9 PM, lighting up the night sky in celebration of the Fair’s opening day.

4-H Schedule

The barns will be buzzing with activity as 4-H breeding shows take place throughout the day. Visitors can also take part in barn tours, where they’ll learn about livestock, agriculture, and the hard work that goes into raising and showing animals. Whether you're a first-time fairgoer or a longtime AG supporter, these tours offer a deeper connection to the agricultural roots of the Fair.
